Power is out to over 800 properties in Te Puna following a vehicle hitting a pole on State Highway 2.

The crash occurred at around 5.54pm on SH2 Te Puna, between Te Puna Rd and Te Puna Station Rd.

There are reports of power lines being down across SH2 following the crash.

It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.

PowerCo is reporting that there is a power outage to 849 properties in Te Puna due to the collision.

A traffic diversion is in place with south-bound traffic directed to travel via Te Puna Rd then right on to Te Puna Station Rd and then merge on to SH2.

North-bound traffic is being diverted from SH2 on to Te Puna Station Rd, then left on to Te Puna Rd to merge into SH2.
