Tauranga City Aquatics has fired the company managing the five Tauranga city pools and taken over their day to day operation.

The pools affected include Baywave, Greerton Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Otumoetai Pool, Memorial Pool and the Mount Hot Salt Water Pools.
Citing ongoing breaches of the contract with LeisureCo New Zealand, TCAL chairman of directors Warren Banks says the intention is to keep the businesses operating as usual during the transition.
The alternative was to shut everything down while staff were rehired.
