UPDATE: One person is reported to have sustained serious injuries following a crash in the Western Bay of Plenty.

A police spokesperson says police were alerted to this crash on Esdaile Road at 8.05pm.

"It reportedly involves two vehicles - a car and a truck.

"Two people have minor injuries and one person is reported to have serious injuries."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Reports are coming in of a possible serious crash in the Western Bay of Plenty.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says police are at the scene of a crash on Esdaile Road.

They say it appears two vehicles are involved.
