Power cuts due to two vehicles striking poles

Police were advised of two separate vehicle collisions overnight in which vehicles struck power poles.

PowerCo also report two power cuts this morning, one at Te Poi near Matamata, and the other in the Lower Kaimai Range. Both outages are due to vehicles striking poles.

The first collision occurred on Te Poi Road, between Temm Rd and Livingstone Rd, and was reported to Police at 4.53am.

'Upon arrival, there were no occupants with the vehicle,” says a Police spokesperson.

Power lines were reported to be down.

The power outage in Te Poi occurred at 4.42am with 60 properties affected. Power is expected to be restored there by 9.42am.

In the second incident, Police were advised at 6.57am that a vehicle had collided with a power pole on State Highway 29, between Soldiers Rd and Valley View Rd.

Upon arrival, Police located a vehicle down a small bank.

'There were no occupants with this vehicle,” says a Police spokesperson.

The power outage in the Lower Kaimai range occurred at 4.21am and is affecting 76 properties in the area. Power is expected to be restored by 9.21am.

when is jacinda and co going to do something about all these poles, signs and trees etc that keep jumping out onto the road. getting very dangerous on the roads now
