Reports of a loud bang being heard in Papamoa are being attributed to a crash.

A SunLive reader messaged us on Faceook to say there was a loud bang out Papamoa, towards Opal Drive around 9pm.

"Not long after the fire stations alarm sounded."

A police spokesperson says a car collided with a bus stop on Opal Drive at 8.50pm.

"The council was advised as the bus stop will require some repairs/clean-up.

"It doesn't look like anyone was injured though."
