A logging truck has lost its load in the Western Bay of Plenty today.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Te Puke East Road, just after 2pm.

New Zealand Transport Agency is advising this section of state highway is currently down to one lane. 'Please avoid the area or expect long delays.”

There is currently a diversion in place for Tauranga bound traffic, turn left onto Maniatutu, right onto Old Coach Rd and follow until the intersection of SH33.

For south bound traffic the lane is still open.

A police spokesperson says they received a report of a logging truck that had rolled and lost the load on Te Puke East Road, between Maniatutu Road and Tainui Road at around 2:10pm.

"The driver was out of the vehicle and uninjured. I can't see that there are any road closures or diversion but we'd ask motorists to be patient if travelling in the area."
