Six people have died on our roads during the 2019/2020 Christmas/New Year holiday period.
The official holiday period began at 4pm on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, and ended at 6am on Friday, January 3 2020.
The break lasted 9.6 days, the same as for 2018/2019, says the Ministry of Transport.
'Provisionally during the 2019/2020 Christmas holiday period, there were six fatal crashes.
'The deaths included: Three drivers, two passengers, and one pedestrian.”
The road death toll is down on the 2018/2019 period, where there were nine fatal crashes.
