As a player Culum Retalick was always cool, calm and collective, he has carried that trait into his coaching career for Tauranga Sports.

His side claimed a big scalp at the weekend, beating Te Puke 34-10 in the second round of the Farmlands Co-operative Baywide Men's competition.

But Retalick wasn't getting carried away with the win.

"We're reasonably happy with [the win]. It was a good effort and we are going in the right direction.”

Retalick says Te Puke has been dominate this season, but this latest game shows any team is 'beatable'.

"If you look across the whole of Bay of Plenty rugby, every team that has played to their potential on the day have had a win and you see that with this weekend's results.''

The coach is putting the win down to having a fully fit reserves bench and making sure he was giving his players the right balance between game-time and rest.

It wasn't just in the premier division where there was a bit upset.

Ngongotaha had their first loss of the season 27-14, against a fired up Waikite side.

In the other premier games of the round; Whakarewarewa lost at home 17-6 to Greerton Marist,

Rangiuru narrowly beat Rangataua 17-13, Te Puna beat Mount Maunganui 47-24.
