1.30pm update: The Te Puke Highway has now been reopened following a fiery crash involving two motorcyclists.

Police have confirmed that there are two injured people - one is in critical condition, and one has moderate injuries.

Earlier:

11.40am A crash involving two motorcycles has happened on the Te Puke Highway, with one catching fire.

Police were notified at 11.20am on Saturday that a motorbike was on fire on Te Puke Highway, following a crash.

Police have confirmed that there are two injured people - one is in critical condition, and one has moderate injuries.

Ambulance and fire services have also been called to the scene.

A traffic diversion is in place at the intersection of Pah Rd and Te Puke Highway, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Originally both lanes were blocked, and callers to SunLive reported that one motorcycle was on fire. The fire has been put out.

SunLive will update the story once information is made available.

On Tuesday, April 2, there was a fatal accident at the same location.

Straight wide road , dry , great visibility? Altercation? Simply no reason for an accident as such with 2 motorcycles involved , as much as we don’t want injury & mayhem , there is an unanswered question.
