One lane of State Highway 33 is blocked following a crash this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a car and truck have crash in the highway, between Tauranga and Rotorua.

"The crash is near the passing lanes."

A police spokesperson says they received reports of a crash at 7.30am.

"We received a report of a crash between two vehicles about 8km north of Okere Falls on State Highway 33.

"One person has received moderate injuries and a second person has minor injuries.

"At least one passing lane is blocked."
