Residents in the Brookfield area are without power this morning after a vehicle hit a fence and two power poles.

Emergency services were called to the Otumoetai Road and Brookfield Terrace intersection at 6.50am.

A police spokesperson says a power pole and lines are down.

'The driver sustained minor injuries.

'Power in the area is out and the road is currently blocked by power lines.

'Diversions are being put in place.”

According to the Power Co website, 1093 properties are without power due to the crash and estimated power restoration is currently at 1pm.
