Two crashes in the Bay of Plenty this morning are serving as a reminder for people to be careful on the roads.

Traffic volumes are expected to increase this long weekend as thousands of people descend on the Bay of Plenty for various events.

A motorbike rider escaped injuries after a crash in Tauranga earlier this morning.

The bike collided with a car on the corner of Grace Road and 14th Avenue around 9am.

Police say no one was injured but it caused minor disruption to traffic.

In the Eastern Bay, police were advised by ambulance of a single-vehicle crash on Mill Road about 6.45am.

'It appears there were two people in the vehicle,” says a police spokesperson.

'A man was taken to hospital for a check-up.”

The cause of both crashes as under investigation.
