People travelling between Tauranga and Matamata are being warned to expect major road works on State Highway 24.

NZTA says the works will affect the stretch of highway which runs from Te Poi to Matamata.

The works will start tomorrow and are scheduled to take about four weeks to complete.

'One lane will be completely closed at a time while the reconstruction works are underway.

'Traffic management will be in operation to control the flow of traffic on the active lane. Please expect some delays.

'Detour Addendum has been issued to relevant HPMV and OD Permit holders.”

A SunLive reader emailed in this morning suggesting people detour via Hinuera (29/27).

He says it might be a good idea, especially for those going through, rather than to Matamata.
