A mobility scooter rider has sustained moderate injuries after being involved in a crash in Katikati on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Beach Road, outside Katikati College, just before 10am.

A police spokesperson says it was a crash between a car and a mobility scooter.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says they saw the aftermath of the accident.

'It looked like the mobility scooter had gone underneath the passenger side wheel.”

'Fortunately, the mobility scooter rider only sustained moderate injuries,” says the police spokesperson.
