Bay of Plenty's Black Fern Renee Wickliffe will make her long-awaited debut for the Volcanix today.

The star winger, who made her name in the Auckland and Counties Manukau women's provincial teams, has been unavailable for the Volcanix since moving to the Bay due to Black Ferns commitments, but that will change in Matata this afternoon.

The Volcanix take provincial championship rugby to the Bay of Plenty coastal settlement for the first time today as they take on Waikato looking for their first Farrah Palmer Cup win of the season.

Getting their hands on the Chiefs Country Cup, initiated by the Chiefs to encourage friendly rivalry between their four partner unions in both the men's and women's competitions, is also a big aim for the team.

Head Coach Brendon Webby has made a number of changes to his starting fifteen following the Volcanix performance against Canterbury. Unaffected by the changes is the front row of Baye Jacob, Lily Florence and Ereti Williams. Mikyla Wardlaw and Calli Perrott have been named on the bench making way for a new locking combination of Amanda Aldridge and Kate Henwood.

Captain Christie Yule holds her starting blindside flanker position, while Black Fern Les Elder will start in the number seven jersey, pushing flanker Kendra Reynolds to number eight.

Following a late change on Saturday due to illness Ora Williams will start at ten with Renee Holmes moving to second five eight. Wickliffe will play her first match in the blue and gold hoops on the right wing.

It will also be a special occasion for Henwood, Florence and Sapphire Tapsell who play their blazer game for the Bay of Plenty Volcanix.

Bay of Plenty's under 18 women's team will take on their Waikato counterparts at 1pm, before the big match kicks off at 2:45.
