UPDATED 10.46PM: Te Puke Highway is closed following a serious crash.

A police spokesperson says initial reports are that one person has suffered serious injuries following the crash.

"The single vehicle crash happened on the Waiari Bridge on Te Puke Highway, shortly before 10pm.

"The road is closed and diversions are being put in place."

Reports are coming in of a serious crash near Te Puke.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline number says there is a serious crash on just on the eastern side of Te Puke.
