Update 6pm - No one is hurt following a crash where a car hit a street light near Papamoa.

A police media spokesperson says the crash happened at about 5.30pm.

"We received a report of a collision between a car and a street light on Tara Road.

"There were no injuries and the road is not blocking."

A witness at the scene says it looks as though the car spun out, hitting the light.

"A bystander said the same thing happened not long ago, with the same lamp post being taken out."

Earlier:

Reports are coming in that a car has crashed into a power pole near Papamoa.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it's happened near Doncaster Drive.

"The person is still in the car."

...probable waste of emergency services resource, when oh when will these children learn how to drive with skill and an 'appropriate' attitude..?...however it's handy that a 'bystander' is on hand again to report such occurences'....(stand back mate!)
