Two people were taken to hospital following a crash on State Highway 36 where a car ended up hanging off the edge of a cliff.
A police media spokesperson says the crash happened at about 5.30pm on Wednesday.
'We received reports a car was balanced against a tree over a ledge above the TECT All Terrain Park, on SH36/Tauranga Direct Road, near Pyes Pa Road and Dudley Road.
'All occupants exited the vehicle and there were no serious injuries.”
The police report at the time of the crash suggested two occupants were taken to Tauranga hospital, says police.
A SunLive reader who emailed the news team on Wednesday night says it's the second crash to have happened on the same bend, within a matter of days.
'I hope that the driver is ok. The same happened to me last night. My car is the one further down that bank.
'It's a very dangerous road and I'm lucky to be alive.”

and never the drivers..................... plenty of people drive that road every day and dont have accidents,so the road is clearly not to blame.

Moving road !.....That's exactly what Black Ice feels like . It's invisible and mostly unpredictable . Especially when it is still around later in the day and the sun is shining . I hit black ice twice in the same area on the same road in the past two days .I managed to avoid an off, Fortunately for me I come from a family of professional drivers and I grew up around the base of Mt Ruapehu.. It is not something drivers from the sunny Bay of Plenty would necessarily recognise or expect.
