A man is dead after being crushed between a ute and garage in Thames.

The Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to the man's home on Waikiekie Road at 9.48am.

Police confirmed the man was found dead at his property.

It was understood the vehicle was a ute and the door to the garage was closed.

"Police are in attendance and are examining the scene,” says Senior Sergeant Will Loughrin.

Police were still attempting to notify the man's next of kin.

Earlier in the morning, the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to a two car crash at the intersection of State Highway 25 and Hauraki Road.

'Turua also called to the scene and we didn't have to extricate anyone,” says a post on the Thames Volunteer Fire Brigade Facebook Page.

'Road now clear, and police asking everyone to use headlights! It's foggy and out there.”
