An urban duck shooter taking shots at water fowl in the swamp near Princess Road today, vanished when police were called.

Police were called around 10.30am, after gunshots were heard in the Bellevue area.

Police went to the scene given its proximity to nearby houses, says a police spokesperson.

“No one was located and there is not believed to be any threat to the public at this stage,” says the spokesperson.

Police responded to reports a man was seen walking along the railway tracks near Ngatai Road, carrying a gun.

The saltmarsh between Bellevue and Matua is within the city.
