Nine injured in two car crash

Nine people were taken to hospital - two in a serious condition - after a two car collision near Te Hoe in the Waikato.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter were dispatched to the scene of a car crash on Ohinewai Road around 4pm on Sunday.

St John and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter took nine people to Waikato Hospital - two in a serious condition, four with moderate injuries and three with minor injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

There were also two fatal motorcycle crashes on Sunday.

A person died after a car and motorbike collided on State Highway 29 near the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park.

Another person died after a van and motorbike crash in Waihau Bay in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
