Two cars have crashed on State Highway 2 in Te Puna this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene of the accident at around 4.25pm.

A police spokesperson says no one appears to have been injured, but there is glass on the road, and one of the vehicles in reportedly 'undriveable'.

"Contractors are currently assisting to remove debris."

The accident occurred in the eastbound lane near Te Mete Road, and although the lane is not believed to be blocked, traffic in both directions is reported to be heavy.
