State Highway 29, near Te Poi, is closed following a serious crash.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash at the intersection of SH29 and SH27.

The NZ Transport Agency says people should avoid State Highway 29 near Te Poi.

"The road is closed near Rangitanuku Road after a serious crash.

"Please delay your journey or use an alternative route."
