Three killed in Thames crash named

Police can now release the names of the three people who died following a two-vehicle head-on crash just west of the Kopu Bridge on State Highway 25.

They were 66-year-old Ian James Fielder, 64-year-old Jocelyn Fielder from Turua and 20-year-old Haydn David Clark from Drury.

"Police extend our sympathies to their family and friends at this time," says a police spokesperson.

The serious crash unit is investigating the crash.

The sole survivor of the crash remains in hospital in critical condition.
