Reports are coming in of major traffic delays on State Highway 29A.
SunLive readers stuck in the traffic says it is at a standstill between Baypark and Maungatapu.
'I joined the traffic jam at 8.30am, only 100m from Baypark, and at 8.55am I'm still nowhere near the Maungatapu Bridge,” says one reader.
Another motorist who travelled the highway recently says there are roadworks taking place on SH29A where contractors are resealing a stretch of road, between the Welcome Bay roundabout and the Poike roundabout.
SunLive has contacted the NZTA for more information and will update this story as soon as we have something more.

When this happens on SH29a it is news! But on SH2 it is such a common occurrence - rarely gets a mention.
Ridiculous

Yes one hour and 40 minutes from rural Te Puke - usually 45 - 50 minutes these days, so quite a record -for all the wrong reasons and I think it was unlikely the resealing was responsible for the whole thing
Excellant planning again

Liek do NZTA and TCC plan all of this all so carefully that it is a complete and utter disaster? How can anyone let them out of the cage and into the world to deliberately cause and create such a mess, is this deliberate?
Don't care where this type of road work is

DO what is the standard all over Aussie and Asia on MAIN roads - work at NIGHT - start a 9pm, + 8 hours ='s 6am finish (with a one hour break at some point).
