UPDATED 11.30AM: Jean Batten Drive and Hewletts Road have reopened after closing this morning while a truck was removed.
The NZTA advises motorists to expect delays while the congestion in the area clears.

Motorists are being asked to avoid Hewletts Road following a truck crash this morning.
Jean Batten Drive and the westbound lanes of Hewletts Road are closed while a truck, that was damaged in a crash earlier this morning, is removed.
"The NZ Transport Agency is asking all road users to avoid the State Highway 2 Hewletts Road area in Tauranga or expect significant delays," says NZTA.
"Please avoid the area if possible. You can also expect delays on the following alternate routes: Westbound: SH29A past Baypark Stadium."

Not surprised really, speeding and turning will do this as well as speeding at Roundabouts like in Bethlehem where there have been 2 logging trucks tip. Slow down, your not achieving anything apart from damage to property and possibly people which will happen eventually if these guys don't slow down or the police actually police these high speed area's like Bethlehem

How many truck drivers do you see on the phones or their radios whilst driving? Police should clamp down on these people.

Probably just as many as car drivers on the phone.... Truck drivers are allowed by law to use the RT or CB while driving. Thats the law.
