Police are continuing to investigate a two-car crash which lead to a power outage in Papamoa overnight.

One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the crash on Papamoa Beach Road.

A police spokesperson says two vehicles crash around 9pm, with one of the vehicles hitting a power pole.

The subsequent power outage affect 731 homes in the Papamoa area.

The road was closed for a couple of hours as emergency services worked to clear the crash scene.
