Two cars have crashed in Papamoa, with one of the cars hitting a power pole.
A photographer at the scene says the road is closed at the intersection of Parton Road and Papamoa Beach Road.
A police spokesperson says powerlines are across the road and Powerco has been advised.
"One person has serious injuries and is being treated by an ambulance at the scene.
"The road is closed and diversions are in place."
Power is also reported to be out in the area following the crash.
A total of 731 homes are reported to be affected by the outage.
Powerco estimates to have power back on around 1am.
