Two Katikati men on board an aircraft that crashed near State Highway 2, south of Waihi, on Wednesday afternoon have been discharged from Tauranga Hospital.
A 44-year-old and 70-year-old were on board the Foxbat ultralight, which was flying from Thames.
Unofficial reports are that the windscreen blew in, which would have in turn blown out the side windows creating too much drag to keep the aircraft in the air.
SunLive has contacted the Civil Aviation Authority for confirmation.
There was an instructor and student on board. The aircraft landed in a paddock and flipped on landing.
The crash landing happened about 3.16pm.
The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.
