Car hits power pole in Te Puna

A car has crashed into a power pole causing powerlines to scatter across Te Puna Station Road.

Police received a report of the crash at 9.08am where a car had crashed into a power pole and then ended up in a ditch near the intersection of Te Puna Road.

"There are power lines on the road and I understand power is out in the area," says a police spokesperson.

Powerco has been called and contractors are accessing the incident.

"The driver of the car is out of the vehicle and has minor injuries."

Bloody power poles should not be stepping out in front of motorists like this. I will petition our politicians to make it unlawful for power poles to behave in such a reckless manner. Max Lewis, Mt Maunganui
