The cause of a shed fire in Merivale last night remains unknown as fire crews continue to investigate into today.

A Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson says crews were called to the incident just after 9pm.

"The shed was well involved in fire when crews arrived it was possibly ten metres by four metres.

"We worked to extinguish the fire while protecting the exposures.

"A fire investigator was also requested at the scene last night and will be returning today to look into what caused it."

The fire attracted the attention of many SunLive readers and nearby residents.

One reader says the incident looks to have occurred near Alverstoke St.
