Either Bethlehem College or Te Whare Kura o Mauao will hold aloft The Dick Little John Trophy with the first round of Baywide Secondary Schools 1st XV competition coming to an end this weekend.

The surprise package of the round Bethlehem College face off against defending champions Te Whare Kura o Mauao in the 1st XV Division One final at Rotorua's Western Heights High School on Saturday.

Under Andy Bartrum, Bethlehem will look to maintain their defensive shape and line speed to combat the attacking flair of Mauao, who'll again be looking to their explosive play makers to run the ball from everywhere, and loose forwards Taitua Woller and Te Aparua Tata to be a handful at the break down.

The game promises to be a spectacle of contrasting styles and will be won by the team best able to dictate the pattern of play on the day. And with both teams battling through tough weather conditions last week, they're looking forward to the forecasted fine weather on Saturday.

In the Second Division final, John Paul College take on Te Puke High School with the winner will be promoted to Division One. This game promises to be an exciting clash between two unbeaten teams striving to make the top tier of 1st XV Rugby in the Bay of Plenty.

While Division Three is a race between teams from Raukura looking for promotion to Division Two. The top performing Under15 team from Raukura may end up vying with their 4th XV for the top spot, so the weekend games are vital for both teams as they slug it out for promotion.
