What’s On? Women’s Triathlon & Bees

The Generation Homes Women’s Triathlon is on today. Photo: Facebook.

Good morning, Sunday SunLive readers. The weather this weekend is certainly an improvement on seven days ago – let's hope it stays that way.

The big event for today is the Generation Homes Women's Triathlon, taking place at Pilot Bay in Mount Maunganui.

Around 700 women are expected to compete in this year's race, which includes a 400m swim, 10km cycle, and 4km run.

Now in its fourth year, the entry-level event celebrates the ‘have-a-go' philosophy. Participants can register as individuals, two or three-person teams or in a special mother-daughter category. Girls must be aged 11 or older to take part.

Sun Media journalist Zoe Hunter will be among those tackling the challenge – stay tuned later in the day to see what she has to say post-race.

Looking to try something new? This afternoon the ‘Bee Interest Group' are also holding their monthly meeting at 186 Esdaile Road, Pahoia. Bring your bee suit, a plate, and a gold coin donation, all at 2pm.

Check out today's other top events below, and enjoy!
