There's an impromptu gig at The Rising Tide in Newton Street this evening - thanks to the cancellation of the Christmas in the Park concert at Blake Park.

There will be six food trucks open from 5pm, and the Jordan Luck trio is set to play at 6pm. And after that it could develop.

Publican Glen Meikle says the other artists that were going to be playing at Blake Park will also be hanging around the Rising Tide... so there could be a jam on the cards.

The lineup this year includes Hollie Smith and band, Anika Moa, The Jordan Luck Trio as well as Georgia Lines and a cast of local performers and dancers.

'They are going to be here, the artists,” says Glenn.

'It was just too windy down there. It would have been just hard work for everyone and a little bit risky health and safety wise.”

The Christmas In The Park charity fundraiser was originally to be on Saturday but was postponed becasue of rain. Today it was the wind was the issue. It is expected to ease slightly this evening.
