Carols on the Waterfront this evening

Dress up as a shepherd, a sheep or an angel to join Mary, Joseph and their donkey as they bring the journey to Bethlehem to life this evening.

The Christmas story of Mary and Joseph as they travelled to Bethlehem ahead of the birth of Jesus will take place on The Strand today December 11.

There will be a walk from the No.1 The Strand from 5.40pm which includes knocking on the doors of local 'inns' to ask if there is any room. The singing of carols is expected to start at the Edgewater Fan at 6pm.

The event is free and is a fantastic, fun family event.

Organisers says children are invited to dress up as shepherds or angels and follow Mary and Joseph on a donkey from No.1 The Strand to The Edgewater Fan, where they can join in a chorus of festive carols.

'The event is a chance for people of all faiths and no faith to come and hear the Christian story behind Christmas.”

Christmas in the Park at Blake Park had to be cancelled this afternoon due to the high winds and associated safety risks.
