It's shaping up to be a big week for a few of lads from the Mount who are all representing New Zealand in Fiji.

Sam Sherlock grabbed gold for Team NZ in the Men's Distance 18-20km Prone paddle race this morning. DK Surfing Facebook page posted about Sam's win saying 'you LEGEND”.

There's also been a good result for fellow Mountie, Scott Cowdrey with the 20-year-old finishing third out of 24 other competitors in the Prone Technical Men's 4k final race with a time of 19:13:40.

'I've been racing at the New Zealand nationals for many years now and have raced the Australian titles a couple of times but this is my first time representing NZ.

'I'm really excited to be part of such an awesome event in the warm waters of Fiji and our course looks super fun.”

Team mate Nick Malcolm finished a respectable sixth place in the race, while 16-year-old Declan Dempster is to compete in the distance finals later this week.
