BOP community groups given money

Western Bay of Plenty community organisations providing critical social services may receive more government funds.

The $40m Community Response Fund will be available in the 2009/ 2010 year to help alleviate financial pressure on organisations delivering vital social services.
This Friday, June 19, there will be a briefing about the extra government funding at the Village Hall at Tauranga's Historic Village from 11am–2pm.
The aim is to offer crisis funding to critical service providers struggling in the current economic climate.
Another $64m will be left in a contingency fund by the government for distribution in 2010/2011 to meet community organisations' needs.
