Heavy rain could be making an unwanted return to the peninsula with the MetService issuing a severe weather watch for both the Coromandel today.
A front that's expected to move over the top of the North Island then drift southwards is expected to bring with it localised heavy rain for parts of the Coromandel on Tuesday and Wednesday.

'This watch is for periods of localised heavy and possibly thundery rain in the Coromandel Tuesday evening and on Wednesday,” says the MetService.
'In some places, accumulations may approach short-duration warning criteria – more than 50mm in six hours – but rain could become more persistent about the Coromandel Peninsula on Wednesday.”
The MetService is advising people to keep up to date with the latest forecasts, in case parts of this watch need to be upgraded to a full warning.
