Two trucks have crashed at Otamarakau seriously damaging the vehicles, but leaving the drivers uninjured and the road open.

Zach Rayner, who drove past the scene, called 0800 SUNLIVE and reported that State Highway 2 remained opened, but traffic was slow.

He says it looked like one truck and trailer unit leaving a picnic area had collided with the trailer of another unit passing on the highway.

The two trucks involved were from Priority Logistics and North Chill.
