It's going to be a wet and cold in the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel with the MetService forecasting rain and low temperatures this week.
A severe weather watch has also been issued for both the Bay and the Coromandel, with the possibility of heavy rains from late Tuesday afternoon until early Wednesday morning.

The MetService says a front is expected to move rapidly east over the country on Tuesday, bringing with it a period of rain and strong to gale westerlies in the Bay and Coromandel.
'In addition, this watch is for the likelihood that rainfall accumulations could reach short duration warning amounts – greater than 60mm in nine hours.”
A severe weather warning will be issued if the MetService expects widespread rainfall will be greater than 50 mm within six hours, or 100 mm within 24 hours.
Warnings will also be issued if widespread severe gales reach a minimum speed of 90 km/hr or frequent gusts exceeding 110 km/hr.
The MetService advises people in the Bay and Coromandel to keep up to date with the latest forecasts, especially since there is a high likelyhood that many parts of this watch will be upgraded to warnings.
