Budget adjustments for Kiwisaver

New Zealand market focus this week is on what Finance Minister Bill English will announce in Thursday's Budget.

He has indicated changes will be made to Kiwisaver, although exactly what change will be made remains uncertain.

Indications are, however, that it will be a removal of tax credit worth about $20 a month and in its place, employer and worker contributions will increase.

IRG BOP's Jonathan York explores this and other issues in this week's weekly video market update.

Kiwisaver changes is concerning

Surely there is another way? Changing Kiwisaver is showing less support for people who work. Cut back on supporting social welfare first, then if you must, look at changes that affect working people.

Question for Simon Bridges

February 1st 2008 "John Key announced yesterday that it no longer opposed the interest-free student loans scheme, saying it was unfair to change the policy because more than 500,000 people had made financial plans based on the interest - free nature of the debt" Why isn't the same reasoning applied to the 1.67 million in the Kiwisaver scheme?
