Ice warning in the Bay

People are being warned to drive carefully with several reports of vehicles sliding off Bay of Plenty roads due to ice.

State Highway 30, between Kawerau and Te Teko, is currently closed due to a crash blocking the highway.

Frosty and slippery conditions are being reported in the Bay.

There are no reports of serious injuries, but the NZTA says the road will be closed until the crash scene has been cleared.

People are being advised to use Kawerau Road back through to SH30 as a detour route.
