A driver who crashed into a bank and rolled their vehicle on Pyes Pa Road is lucky to have escaped the crash without injury.
Police were called to the scene, near Oropi Road, at about 5.15pm after the car rolled on its roof.

A reporter at scene says the driver was lucky not to have been seriously injured in the crash. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
With more heavy rain predicted for the Bay and reports of flooding on the main highways, police are warning drivers to pay more attention.
'Please take extreme caution. Knock your speed down a bit, concentrate on what you're doing, give yourself that extra room behind the vehicle ahead; and leave the mobile phone alone,” says Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion.
'We did a sting on at Turret Road on Tuesday and in the space of 35 minutes, we issued infringements to 15 drivers for using their cell phones.
'Then people wonder why there are nose to tails around the city, because people just aren't concentrating,” says Ian.
'The vast majority of people drive sensibly in these conditions. If the small percentage that insist on using mobile phones or not concentrating just modify their behavior, then we are all going to get where we want to go safely.”

- State Highway 1, North of Tokoroa.

omg! this road needs to either have a traffic camera installed, or a full-time cop, because so many drivers go well over the speed limit!! And cross the road when going around corners. Every time I drive on this road, I take extreme care, because there seem to be a lot of maniacs using it!

Glad to read the caption under the photo says the driver lost control rather than the usual caption a car lost control.

Yes Jimmy, I have driven on roads up and down NZ. I just hope you don't come across some maniac heading in your direction on this stretch of road. Take care out there.
