You wouldn't be able to tell Kokomo have been at it for 25 years. They packed out the Brew Bar in Tauranga last weekend and had an 'absolute ball” while they were at it.
The 90-minute afternoon set featured songs both old and new, and a couple special guests joined in – songstress Marion Arts, saxophonist Robbie Laven, and singer songwriter John Michaelz.

Frontman Derek Jacombs reminisces about the earlier days to when the band formed in 1991.
'We don't play in many bars these days, so it was great. It was like getting back to some of the earlier pub gigs.
'It was a great crowd, everyone was enthusiastic and there were followers from the band from the early days who came along as well.”
Fans from Hamilton and Auckland came down to show their appreciation too.
When asked if Derek got up to much after the show he laughs. 'No, I was absolutely knackered! It's been busy building up to the show... I just slept afterwards – rock ‘n' roll!”
Kokomo are currently putting together a live concert DVD of their performance at the Tauranga National Jazz Festival this Easter.
Alongside this, a book and a new album ‘Batten Down the Hatches' will be out this year.
A quarter of a century down and there's no stopping them.
