As at 8.30am, Friday, 6261 people had visited the Kestrel for sale listing on TradeMe's commercial property sales section.
The 105 year old wooden hulled ferry has been advertised there for just over a week.
Price is by negotiation, and the owner Mark Scapens is currently sailing to Tonga.
The Kestrel has had more than 6000 views since put up for sale on TradeMe last week.
Kestrel has been a Tauranga waterfront fixture since 2004.
Her engine was removed and the former Auckland ferry fitted out as a floating restaurant.
The restaurant folded and Kestrel lay idle for two years before being put up for sale.
In previous interviews, Mark says the difficulty is the waterfront lease with Tauranga City Council.
It is a 10 year lease that expires in 2014. Mark has been unable to negotiate a right of renewal because the council property department will not do that until the last year or two.
Mark says no one will invest in an expensive fit out, when there is no guarantee they will be able to remain in business on The Strand reclamation long enough to cover set up costs.
Kestrel is offered for sale with or without the adjoining pontoon, building and attachments. Priority will be given to offers that secure a worthwhile future for Kestrel.
Kestrel was last slipped six years ago, before arriving in Tauranga.
On May 1, Mark confirmed he's asked Environment BOP about the possibility of burning Kestrel to the waterline and sinking the remainder should she fail to sell.
"That's about plan C. I'm between a rock and a hard place and it's time to move on - one way or another."
