New city hotel closer to reality

Tauranga City Council is working with an ‘interested party' to progress plans for a hotel and conference centre in Tauranga's CBD, according to economic development agency Priority One.
Priority One and Tourism Bay of Plenty commissioned a feasibility study for the hotel.

Tauranga's CBD could be the site of a new hotel and conference centre.

The study forms the basis for attracting investors, developers and operators for the project.
A study is also underway to better understand the size and scope of the existing New Zealand conference market and the potential economic impact of the proposed hotel.

WOW! - Could people finally be getting it? Good thinking you lot - Mark, Rob and Pat - you are exactly spot on. Another example of our council interfering where they whould not be. They should be bending over backwards to do everything they can to attract investors and entrepreneurs to this place to supply facilities like this free of charge and responsibility to the ratepayers. Instead they make it as difficult as possible and scare them all away, and then try and do it themselves - and then making a hash of it. Get them out of the equation ASAP and lets get on with it.

Quite right

Pat hits the nail right on the head - Obviously our self appointed experts know more about the hotel industry than the people who run the world wide chains - Yeah right!

and Pat it would probaly take to Studies , or should I say two parties to attract a Hotel Chain after the last Stuff up with the Novotel . Taunui may have stated there was not a dollar in it , but after years of stuffing around they went elsewhere ....they seem to be Building something Major in every other North Island City ? Tauranga City Council must make this one a smooth ride in the Best interests of both Parties !
