A cricket shootout between New World Te Puke and Carrus Mount Maunganui will decide the 2016 Williams Cup today.
Both sides will bring strong line-ups to the fifty over per side contest which is taking place at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui from 11am.
The William Cup finale will be the fourth occasion the two Western Bay of Plenty teams have met this season – with Te Puke taking a two/one advantage into the encounter.
In November's Baywide Cup Te Puke took first blood by bowling Mount Maunganui out for 121 and got home with two wickets to spare. Te Puke batsman Alex Gooding top scored with 61 with Brody Gilroy taking a five wicket bag.
In Williams Cup qualifying play the Mount evened the ledger, chasing down 241 to grab a seven wicket win. Peter Drysdale, Ben Musgrave and Blair McKenzie all blasted half centuries to give their team a big victory.
While last weekend Te Puke won the Williams Cup major semi-final against their arch rivals.
The Williams Cup is Bay of Plenty Cricket's oldest trophy and was first contested in the 1932/33 season.
