'It's a pity we couldn't get Jacko (Glen Jackson) involved”, says McDermott jokingly.

'Unfortunately, he's away preparing for a Six Nations test, otherwise we could've all just worn our Bay gear.”

Glen Jackson will be taking take charge of his second Six Nations match this season when he officiates the Scotland v France match at Murrayfield in Edinburgh on Monday.

Bay of Plenty Rugby referee manager Pat Rae says it's a bonus to have a number of high quality match officials from the Bay performing on the world stage.

Both matches will be screened live on Sky.
