A ‘moderate' earthquake has been reported in the Bay of Plenty this morning.

GeoNet reports the 3.7 magnitude quake struck around 11am, 20km south of Rotorua.

The earthquake was 8km deep and follows on from some lesser shakes which probably weren't noticed in the Bay, says GeoNet.
