It was all girl power at Pilot Bay for this year's Generation Homes Women's Triathlon.

With more than 500 participants taking part in the annual event more than 7500km was travelled by the all women event which just gets bigger every year.

Event organiser Miranda Clark says 547 athletes took part in the 400m swim, 10km cycle and 4km run/walk in the weekend.

'It was amazing, absolutely amazing, all done and dusted by 10.30am. We had great weather apart form a little bit of win. The atmosphere there was just so incredible again.”

The over-all winner for this year's event was Olivia Cummings in an impressive time of 42 minutes and 14 seconds followed closely by Hayley Gallagher in 43 minutes and 58 seconds and third taken by Anna Opie in 44 minutes and 14 seconds.

In the mother/daughter division, Olivia and Liz Cummings placed first in a time of one hour and 28 minutes, Brenda and Brooke Poutawera came second with one hour and 50 minutes, with Vanessa and Abbey Day [placing third with one hour and 51 seconds.

The two/three women teams' was won by Girls Unite, Team Tisch in second and The Ultimate 3-Some in third.

The three generations division was won by Charlotte Dixon, Diane Lewis and Karen Lewis.

Miranda says this year's event had an increase in participant numbers which is always a good sign an event is doing well.

'We're about 80 more (participants) from last year. So it's our third year running the event and I had 85 volunteers at the event yesterday.”

Participants' ages varied with the youngest being 11-years-old with the eldest a spritely 78-year-old.

'The feedback is already coming in has been very positive and very happy. So we've had a lot of very happy ladies so that's cool.”

Miranda says the event will continue with Generation Homes already confirming they will sponsor another event.

2^nd = Team Tisch – 47:39

3^rd = The Ultimate 3-Some – 48:16

1^st = Cummings Girls (Olivia and Liz Cummings) – 1:28:37

2^nd = B & B Poutawera (Brenda & Brooke Poutawera)– 1:50:12

3^rd = Day Girls (Vanessa & Abbey Day) – 1:51:28

3 Generation:

1^st = We are family (Charlotte Dixon, Diane Lewis and Karen Lewis)
